The Junkeater is equipped with pollution control systems to collect, store and discharge weeds, aquatic plants and floating macropollution including logs. The Junkeater is designed to operate in lakes, lagoons and internal waters but can easily work in marine coastal waters up to 6 miles radius. The hull and super-structure are entirely built in steel Fe42b. The hull is composed of 2 units coupled by stainless steel bolts to facilitate the transportation in knocked down conditions without any special permission. Assembling on the spot is fast and simple. The units are sub-divided into water tight compartments by means of transversal bulkheads. The engine power pack is located into a containerised unit positioned on the main deck. The power pack accommodates the main engine, the fuel tanks, the hydraulic oil tank, the hydraulic pumps and the hydraulic controls. The boat is built under the survey of R.I.Na. (Italian Naval Register), to obtain the antipollution service certificate (macropollution collection) and all the relevant navigation certificates, stated by the rules and regulations of the Italian Authorities. The diesel engine (6 cylinders; 200 Hp; cooling system: water by air exchanger) is installed in the power pack unit and is located on the fuel tank. The boat is self-propelled by means of two hydraulic driven stern propellers. The hydraulic plant is composed of 5 hydraulic pumps which move the following devices: - hyacinth chopping - hydrostatic propulsion - conveyor belts - bilge general service pump - cylinders The weeds chopping equipment is driven by a highly efficient hydraulic system employing moving gear while the grinding system is operated by moving hammers. The high speed cutting system is hydraulically protected by a carter to avoid any external damage. The unit is able to shred any type of vegetable; the harvested material is de-fibred and recoverable. A hydraulically operated conveyor belt is installed in front of the boat and its function is to collect the floating biomasses. It is equipped with 2 hydraulic cylinders to adjust the draft and to take it off of the water during the positioning. The collected waste is stored into a hydraulically operated conveyor belt. The unloading of the biomasses to a support unit is provided by two trasversal aft conveyor belts.
